Political Parties (draft)

-Focus gets put on the party and not the individual person, makes it a game

-We elect people, not parties

-Official has to represent all of the citizens, even those outside the party

-George Washington, the country's "father" was afraid of them

-Hard for broad parties to match up with voter's views on all subjects

-Candidates may not agree with all of the party's opinions

-Parties subject to shifting their viewpoints/place on the scale

-Parties pressure their members to vote a certain way

-Locks out other candidates; just two major parties may not cover everybody

-Parties shouldn't be able to use official primary ballot to choose candidates

-Should be able to give "yes" or "no" to each candidate ("best of"/approval voting)
