• Need to fix the marketplace—drivers don't pay for parking, pollution, petrol wars
• FRA crash regulations obstructing passenger rail (WES, Acela)
• Need to be strict regarding driving laws to protect others on or near roads
• Should bridges, freeways be funded as basic road network or self-funded w/tolls? (they don't directly connect to properties, are only on certain routes and provide premium-like service)
• They are unusually expensive, but surrounding areas can benefit
• Toll the Sellwood Bridge to make guests from other counties pay for it (people from Molalla got Clackamas fee stopped; people in Troutdale also shouldn't have to pay for it; vehicle registration fee means that what matters is where a person lives, and many uses may not live in Multnomah County)
• Feds could still coordinate Interstate highway projects between the states even without funding ("free" Federal funding can encourage bad projects; argument was that if systems were left to states, hwys might end at state line like with US 12 at WI/IL)
